Farm City Week

This year Dillon County will celebrate Farm-City Week on Monday, Nov. 19, 2007.

Farm-City Week is a local community program. The goal of the program is create a better understanding between rural and urban people. Farmers and town people alike are consumers, each depending on the other for support and understanding.

The event is organized by the Dillon Kiwanis Club, the Dillon County Chamber of Commerce and the Dillon Soil and Water Conservation District and Dillon County Clemson Extension Service.

2007 Farm-City Banquet Awards

Farmers of the Year:   Johnny Mac Gasque and Harold Gasque
Industrialist of the Year:   Don Stout, Dillon Yarn

Dillon County Businessmen of the Year:   Ron Barfield and Stuart Jackson,

The Dillon County 4-H Junior and Senior Shooting Sports Teams were recognized for their accomplishments at the state level.

2007 Farm City Event

There will be a tour of the Pee Dee Research and Education Center. If you wish to attend meet at the Winn-Dixie Parking Lot to travel by bus at 8:15 am.

Dr. Patrick McMillan, Naturalist, of the ETV’s “Expeditions” will be the guest speaker at the annual banquet at 7:00 pm at the Dillon High School Cafeteria. During the banquet “Dillon County Farmer of the Year”, “Dillon County Business Person of the Year”, “Dillon County Industrialist of the Year” and an “Outstanding Youth” from each Dillon County high school and Dillon County Applied Technology Center will be recognized. There will also be 4-H Awards.
