Streets and Beautification
The Street and Alley
Maintenance is a division of the city's Public Works Department.
Their primary responsibilities include:

The Beautification division is a
service that the city provides in an effort to present our city
as a place that our community can be proud of. The responsibilities
of this department is to provide:
- Daily Litter Pickup
- Mowing of City Right-of-Ways,
Fire Department Building, City County Complex, Alleys, Dillon
House, and the Dillon National Guard Armory.
Some Winter duties include:
- Curb Edging
- Shrubbery
- Pruning
- Continued Litter Control
There is 1 Superintendent (Burt
Rogers), 4 Beautification Employees, and 6 Street
Employees.

Maintenance Shop
The City Maintenance
Shop is also a division of the Public Works Department. This
department maintains all the vehicles and equipment owned and
operated by the city. There is a mechanic foreman and one equipment
mechanic. Together they work on on approximately 73 vehicles,
and equipment such as:

Chain Saws

Tractors
-
Backhoes
The city also has a variety of
other projects that the Maintenance Shop gets involved with.

Crew displays “TREE CITY USA” patches on all uniforms.
Dillon County Applied Technology
School’s Horticulture Department under the direction of
Cliff Willbanks is growing
an average of 200 trees per year for use in the City’s
Urban Forestry Program.

City of Dillon won the “Acorn
Award” in 2005 from the SC Urban Forestry Commission for
outstanding work urban forestry.
