Virginia
Scotchie is the chair of the ceramics sequence of the University
of South Carolina art department. She is an international renowned
ceramics artist who has taught or worked as a visiting or resident
artist in Australia, Taiwan, The Netherlands and Italy. She
just recently returned from a semester teaching at the University
of Hawaii. Scotchie keeps up an intense exhibition schedule
both abroad and at home. She’s been selected several times
for the S.C. Triennial exhibition and was one of the artists
in “100 Years/100 Artists”, the 2000 overview of
art in South Carolina at the SC State Museum in Columbia.
She holds an MFA from Alfred University in the state of New
York.
