Painter and sculptor Diane Kilgore Condon (b. 1964) has exhibited widely in upstate South Carolina, including the Greenville County Museum of Art.
She was included in South Carolina Birds: A Fine Art Exhibition, a contemporary art exhibition that traveled to four places in South Carolina from 2004-05.
The Wassau, WI, native and Greenville, SC, resident is the owner and director of the ArtBomb Studio, a studio complex for artists in Greenville.
"I started this body of work in 2001 because I love raw line drawings but don’t always want to draw.
The wire has a memory and a will of its own and rebels a little now and then, which is surprising enough to keep me interested.
The horse as subject matter can represent so many emotional and tangible aspects of life - it seemed a great place to start.
Pure mass ‘outlined” by fencing wire from the hardware store, mundane into lovely form, well, that’s cool too.
When the neck wires are attached to the horse form, attitude and stance emerge pretty much on their own.
It’s like seeing a person’s expression change them into something more beautiful. You don’t know how it happens, but it’s in the nuance of line."
