The Pebble
(Welded Steel and Stone Peebles)
Artist
Andria Webster
Andria created this sculpture in 2006 while attending the
Industrial Systems Technology I – Basic Welding class at Dillon County Applied Technology Center.
Instructor: Jerry Bullard
Advisor: Jerry Owens, Montone Trailers, LLC
Her inspiration for this piece is from the following poem:
"The Pebble"
The pebble is a perfect creature
Equal to it’s self, mindful of it limits
Filled exactly with pebbly meaning
With a scent which does not remind one of anything
Does not frighten anything away, does not arouse desire
Is ardour and coldness are just full of dignity
I feel a heavy remorse when I hold it in my hand
And its noble body is permeated by false warmth
Pebbles cannot be tamed
To the end they look at us with the calm and very clear eye
